She hated the beach π
We could have had more fun at home with the sprinklers on, probably.
This was my thought yesterday, leaving our four-day beach trip with our toddler, 6-month-old, and my in-laws.
You live and you learn, right?
A year ago, we moved to North Carolina (how has it already been a year?!?) and we took our then even-littler toddler to the beach for the very first time.
Y'all, Carolina beaches are magic. Smooth sand, WARM water, it's just a dream (looking at you Rockaway... what I settled for for too long ππ€ͺ).
And our daughter Flora LOVED it! She was fearless, running through the lapping waves, digging in the sand, wanting to get out into the water and swim. Her enthusiasm made for the most fun beach trip last year.
So a year later, we're like: Let's do it again! She's gonna LOVE IT!
Spoiler alert: she did not love it.
She was highly convinced the waves were going to "get her" and she basically refused to go so far as to even dip her toes into the water.
Honestly, who is this child?! I don't know her.
Long story short, between her lack of participation in the whole "beach" part of the beach trip, and keeping our six-month-old cool (tricky) and happy (not that hard), and hoping my in-laws were also staying cool and feeling happy, my husband and I left the beach, drove west toward Raleigh, and wondered... was this excursion really worth it?
Sure I could make plenty of arguments that it was worth it, and you know, Flora LOVED the hotel pool so there's that (lol, don't they always?). But the stretch of an analogy I'm gonna make for THIS email is:
Are you planning for this year's trip with last year's information?
Or, more applicably:
Are you preparing for this week's auditions with last year's limiting beliefs? With last month's vocal technique habits? With 18-year-old you's audition book?
Don't let that be you.
Don't play today's game with outdated information.
Plan smarter, show up prepared, feel like your best YOU when you present yourself.
And the only way to do that is to actually be connected to the industry now. To work on your craft, your voice, your performance now.
Lucky for you, here at Broadway Vocal Coach, we've made it as easy as possible to do just that.
BVC Masterclass subscribers take 3 classes every month in mix voice technique, pop/rock style and performance, and get a workshop with an industry special guest.
Things in our industry are changing TOO RAPIDLY to be presenting yourself the same way you did two years–or even six months–ago!
Get the up-to-date skills and know-how to FEEL your best and DO your best as a musical theatre performer.
I promise you don't want to plan your next "beach trip"/audition/solo cabaret without us here at BVC cheering you on π

It's amazing how we can weave a singing-related lesson into stories about overflowing toilets, postpartum photoshoots, or maid-of-honor wedding speeches. Now you're intrigued, right?!Β
